L’école des filous is a French Saturday school located in Ware (Hertfordshire) specialised in teaching French to children from bilingual families (where at least one parent speaks French fluently) from the age of 4 years old.
Our aim is to encourage bilingual children to feel confident to speak fluently, read and write in French and discover this language spoken by mum or dad, grandad or cousins, … but also to learn about the French culture and history, and most of all make friendship with other multicultural and multinational children.
To do so, all our classes are taught by native French speakers and follow both the French curriculum for primary school children and methods developed specifically for bilingual children educated in England as their linguistic needs are different to those learning French as a foreign language.

L’école des filous is a charity organisation (registered charity No 1165754) teaching French on Saturday morning in Ware, Hertfordshire, for 2 hours between 10 am and 12 pm.
All our teachers are native French speakers with a lot of experience teaching children.
At l’école des filous, we all share the same passion in encouraging children to develop their oral, reading and writing skills in French but also to learn about the French culture and history.
Each class is organised by age group and/or linguistic level of the children and kept to a small number of pupils to ensure a high quality of education with as much interaction as possible between teachers and pupils. Sessions are focusing on a specific theme related to through games and specific to each age group.
L’école des filous is part of the FLAM (Français Langue Maternelle) network, which is recognised by the AEFE (Association de l’Enseignement du Français à l’Etranger).
The objective of this network is to encourage the development and learning of French as the mother tongue by linking all FLAM schools to share ideas and resources.
